Introduction of Neijiang Teachers College

¡°Green hills stretching on the north, a river is winding down its east.¡± In this picturesque setting of Neijiang----a well-known historical and cultural city, and ¡°the land of calligraphy and painting¡±----a higher education institution of teacher training full of vigor and vitality was born. This is Neijiang Teachers College.

As a college of four-year schooling for teachers¡¯ training under the supervision of Sichuan Province, Neijiang Teachers College was founded in March 2000 with the approval of Sichuan People¡¯s Government and the State Ministry of Education by integrating the former Neijiang Teachers College and Neijiang College of Education, which contained the incorporated Neijiang Art and PE Normal School. Since the founding of the college, it has brought into full play the advantages of the former three schools in running teacher colleges in the past 48 years. During the past few years, a college full of vigor has shown its lively bearing with a big stride forward.  

The college has the right to grant bachelor¡¯s degree with 12 departments and 7 first-grade subjects, namely, Literature, Law, History, Science, Pedagogy, Engineering and Administration. It has 29 majors for the four-year students and 25 for three-year students. There are 11,544 full-time students and 1,117 teaching and administrative staff. The college has established 10 institutes, such as Digital Emulation Lab£¬Strong Field Physics Research Section, Electronic Information Engineering Institute£¬Fan Changjiang Institute£¬Institute for the Ideology of Present Sichuan Politicians, Institute of Social Science Regarding PE and Human Society, Zhang Daqian Art Institute and Institute of Flowers and Plants.

 The campus covers an area of 318,600 m2. The total value of equipment and other facilities mounts up to 45 million yuan RMB and the library has a collection of books over 700,000 copies. The college is also accomplished with such facilities as a gymnasium, a standard track and field sports ground, basketball and tennis courts, swimming pools, an electronic reading-room and multimedia classrooms.

The college enrolls students from 25 provinces and cities such as Sichuan, Chongqing, Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Guangxi, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Gansu, Shanxi, Liaoning and Zhejiang, which cover a wide range of China. After 2003, the yearly employment of our graduates before graduation reaches above 92%.

The college has been awarded the titles such as ¡°State-level Outstanding Unit of Mass Physical Training¡±, ¡°Province-level Gardening Unit¡±, ¡°Provincial Advanced Unit¡±, ¡°Province-level Civilized Unit¡± and ¡°Outstanding Unit of Talents Development of Neijiang¡±.

Introduction of Neijiang City

Neijiang lies in the southeast of Sichuan Province which borders on Chongqing in the east, Luzhou in the south, Zigong and Yibin in the west, Ziyang and Suining in the north, with a land area of 5,386 km?? and a total population of 4.2 million. Four railways of Chengdu-Chongqing, Neijiang-Kunming, Sichuan-Hubei and Sichuan-Yunnan and four expressways of Chengdu-Chongqing, Neijiang-Yibin, Neijiang-Luzhou and Neijiang-Suining run through it, which makes it an important thoroughfare to link up Sichuan and other provinces and cities such as Chongqing, Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi and Hubei.

With the beautiful winding Tuojiang River flowing through, Neijiang has a rich history of 2000 years and is the birthplace of Changhong, teacher of Confucius, Wang Bao, a great poet of the West Han Dynasty, Dong Jun, a famous educator in Eastern Han Dynasty, Zhang Daqian, a great master of Chinese painting, and Fanchangjiang, a distinguished newsman. It is also famous throughout the world for being the ¡°homeland of painting¡± and the ¡°land of culture¡±. 

It is close to many famous natural and historic areas such as Dujiangyan, Qingcheng Mountain, Jiuzhaigou, the Wolong Great Panda Breeding Centre, the Zigong Kinosaur Museum and E¡¯mei Mountain.
